Versus modes only appeal to a small percentage of people who are willing to invest the time and effort to learn strategies and reach a decent skill level - all I ever really wanted to do was kill some baddies with friends. I think co-op is going to be the next big-thing in online multiplayer, I really do. Hopefully this variety of approaches, combined with having a dedicated SDK at release and a large existing fanbase, will mean a stready stream of new content right from the outset! You can either keep on the move in a close-knit group to avoid getting pinned down, or hole up in a good spot and make it as difficult as possible for enemies to get to you. I bought it purely based on 1) loving some co-op, 2) the price, and 3) the effort and support Tripwire put into Red Orchestra, and hopefully this release too!įrom what I've heard, gameplay seems to be radically different from L4D - it's much closer to that game's survival mode, in that you're confined within a defined location and have to deal with incoming waves of mutants. In the mod, and now retail game, you stave off hordes of terrifying undead, getting more money each wave to buy better equipment. They're the same team responsible for Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Killing Floor, originally a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, is now a full retail game developed by Tripwire Interactive.
